The Morro Bay Youth Sailing Foundation provides opportunities for local youth to learn the art and skill of sailing.

Summer Sailing Scholarships

Learn to sail during the summer with Learn to Sail lessons at the Morro Bay Yacht Club. Sessions for youth, ages 8-18, run Monday-Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and cost $275 (2023). Completion of lessons qualify the new sailor to apply to join the Morro Bay Junior Yacht Club.

The Morro Bay Youth Sailing Foundation hopes to offer Learn to Sail Scholarships in 2024 to cover the tuition of a session for youth ages 8-18 who live in San Luis Obispo County. Residency of the child in the county is a requirement of our 501(c)3 charity, so grandparents should not apply for their out-of-area family. Announcements will be made in April 2024 regarding scholarships. Contact us for more information.

Sailing Instructor Scholarships

Scholarships are currently available for those who wish to become a Small Boat Instructor and teach youth sailing in San Luis Obispo County, California. Scholarships cover the Online ($125) and In-Person ($300) courses taught by U.S. Sailing. Contact us for more information.
